The Knickerbocker Club (known informally as The Knick) is a gentlemen's club in New York City that was founded in 1871. It is considered to be the most exclusive club in the United States and one of the most aristocratic gentlemen's clubs in the world.

Knickerbocker Club was founded in 1871 by 18 former members of Union Club, who did not like Union club expansion of the membership. Among the Knickerbocker Club founders were such prestigious New Yorkers as Alexander Hamilton and John Jacob Astor. Club had an excellent restaurant.
The Knickerbocker was founded in 1871 by members of the Union Club, another "gentleman's club" in the old sense, who were unhappy with the admission requirements. The name is a word coined by the writer Washington Irving to mean a New York aristocrat.
