George IV was 57 when he came to the throne, and by the late 1820s his health was failing him. His heavy drinking had taken its toll, and he had long been obese. He died in the early hours of the morning on 26th June 1830.
In the last years of his life George had little involvement in government and spent his time in seclusion at Windsor Castle. He died on 26 June 1830.

26 sty 2023 · Death & Successor. George IV, still a great overeater and drinker but now heavily dependent on laudanum, died of a ruptured blood vessel in his stomach on 26 June 1830 at Windsor Castle. The king was buried in St. George's Chapel in Windsor.
