In Word and Outlook, you can use accent marks (or diacritical marks) in a document, such as an acute accent, cedilla, circumflex, diaeresis or umlaut, grave accent, or tilde. For keyboard shortcuts in which you press two or more keys simultaneously, the keys to press are separated by a plus sign (+) in the tables.
To type any umlaut letter in Word using the keyboard, first of all, simultaneously press Ctrl + Shift + ;. After pressing these keys, and without pressing any other key, type the vowel or letter. This will type an umlaut version of the vowel typed.
Below are the A with Accent symbols for you to copy and paste into your Word document. Just select your desired symbol and press Ctrl+C to copy, switch over to your document, place your insertion pointer at the desired location, and press Ctrl+V to paste.

To add accents or special characters, use the number pad on your keyboard with Num Lock turned on. Press and hold Alt. Type the numeric code (see below) on the number pad and release Alt.
