22 sty 2023 · Transferring From the Mun to Kerbin. When you are ready, just start burning prograde until you get an orbit around Kerbin and an escape trajectory from the Mun. An easier way to do this is to just burn upwards from launch sending you straghit up to an escape trajectory (about 2,000km). Keep in mind that this method does require more fuel to ...
16 paź 2024 · Kerbin is the home planet of the Kerbals, the location of the Space Center and other facilities, and the main focus of Kerbal Space Program. It is also the Earth analog for the game but, unlike Earth, it has two moons instead of one. They are named the Mun and Minmus.
4 lip 2024 · Mun, also known as the Mun and sometimes written as Mün, is a relatively large moon orbiting Kerbin. It can be thought of as an analogue to Earth's own moon, which frequently is simply called “ the Moon ” (Latin: Luna ).
Best way to do it, is to plan the exit in the opposite direction as the moon itself is orbiting. After that you can set your PE between 30 and 70k (i recommend about 40k to be safe, but it also depends on the vessel), so that you can airbrake and land on kerbin.
Basically, Mun slingshots can seem like a good idea, because you can basically escape Kerbin's SOI for free (after getting to the Mun). But if are actually trying to reach another planet, you've actually dug yourself into a bit of a hole.
You can spend less total delta-V to achieve the same hyperbolic escape velocity relative to the Mun (roughly your speed as you leave the Mun's SoI) by getting into a low circular orbit first, then burning to escape at the correct time as others have shown.
You want to escape retrograde to the Mun ("behind" it), parrallel to its trajectory. keep burning prograde until you get a Kerbin apoapsis of 60k if you're patient, 30k if you want to land as soon as possible. A good way to know if your Mun escape was efficient is to look at the next predicted Kerbin apoapsis (purple Ap label).
