I use a similar layout for flying (W/S throttle, AD yaw, and numpad for pitch and roll). The default bindings always felt awful to me, especially for aircraft and propulsively landing rockets. It's so much easier to fly the vehicle with two hands, and makes it almost like a drone RC controller.
