9 mar 2024 · In our Karjalan kartat (Maps of Karelia) online service, you can view and download old maps of the Karelia. The website contains four map layers: two topographic maps (scales 1:100 000 and 1:20 000), a municipal map (1:20 000) and a general map.
PDF files and KMZ files for these maps can be downloaded directly for most lakes. If a particular lake is not listed in any section, please check the UPDATES section often as we have maps and data for over 10,000 lakes as well as access to thousands more that have not yet been catalogued.
Lakes. In Karelia, there are about 60,000 lakes. Together with swamps, they now contain about 2,000 km3 of perfectly pure water. The most famous Lake of Karelia include Nyuk, Pyaozero, Segozero, Syamozero, Topozero, Vygozero and Yushkozero. Lake Ladoga and Lake Onega are the largest in Europe.
