6 kwi 2021 · Many states offer what is known as bar reciprocity. If you’ve already passed the bar exam and have practiced law for a specified time, you might be eligible to be admitted on motion (also known as “waiving”) into your new jurisdiction.
In order to be eligible for admission without taking the Kansas Bar Exam, the applicant must be a member of a reciprocating state bar and have engaged in the active practice of law for 5 of the 7 years immediately preceding the application and may have not previously failed a written Kansas Bar Examination.
A member in good standing of a reciprocating jurisdiction may be admitted on motion in Kansas if the applicant has engaged in the active practice of law for five of the seven years preceding application. Additional requirements may apply.
