Kaisa is a late game monster, an assassin marksman who can burst squishies and kite tanks. Her hybrid damage and very flexible builds make it really hard for the enemy to build against her, and with such an adaptable playstyle she can fit into almost any team comp and support.

I'm a Fiddle top player, who recently got into Kai'Sa top to deal with stupid tanks. It works well when I built Kraken + BoTRK + Lord Dom/Guinsoo, but when their comp has like 2 to 4 tanks, with all of them building Thornmail, I take a ton of damage or even die to the reflected damage.
Kai'Sa currently has 5 different core builds (that I use) which are all viable depending on enemy and ally team comps, I'll try to list them here and explain when to buy what. Note: the listed item costs exclude Doran's Blade which I assume you always have.
