19 lis 2022 · I have swelling between where the clavicle bones meet in the centre, where there is normally a dip (known as the jugular notch or suprasternal notch). It affects my breathing a little bit sometimes and I have to change positions when lying down as it can become uncomfortable.
The suprasternal notch, also known as the fossa jugularis sternalis, jugular notch, or Plender gap, is a large, visible dip in between the neck in humans, between the clavicles, and above the manubrium of the sternum.
Metastases are the most common sternal neoplasms. Depending on the primary neoplastic site, both lytic and sclerotic deposits may occur, portending an unfavourable prognosis. Common primary tumours that may metastasize to the sternum include breast, lung, renal and thyroid malignancies.
The other week I noticed I could feel a lump at the jugular notch on my neck. This is the notch right where the sternum ends and the neck begins and its like a little v shape. Right where the neck starts I can feel a lump, its maybe about 1.5 cm long and 0.5 thick.

Costochondral junctions, where the costal cartilages articulate with the sternum, are crucial in costochondritis pathophysiology. These junctions are composed of hyaline cartilage, which is susceptible to inflammation.
The jugular notch of the sternum (suprasternal or presternal notch) is the large indentation found along the superior border of manubrium of the sternum. It is located between the right and left clavicular notches and forms a palpable depression at the root of the neck.
