It's supposed to be campy, cult, and originally meant to be in black and white inspired by Eraserhead and Tetsuo.

But the movie was after the genre was over a decade old, in its own, and well after the publishing of Cyberpunk 2020 ttRPG, which is the world progressed to 2077 for this video game.

William Gibson's sprawl trilogy is genre defining and literally everything cyberpunk has elements that were touched on in the sprawl universe. The sprawl directly influenced the original Cyberpunk TTRPG books.
17 sty 2021 · Johnny Mnemonic was pure cyberpunk, just chock full of the tropes. But yes, I love Strange Days too, both for it's quality and that one cp element that it did beautifully. Another great Cameron creation overlooked with some cp elements was his TV series Dark Angel.
30 kwi 2023 · This version combines both the U.S and Japanese version of Johnny Mnemonic (the Japanese version is used as the base for this fanedit). There are too many changes to list down here as almost every scene has at least 1 frame to few seconds differences (for the 1 frame differences, I just repeat the most static frame at start/end of each scene, not noticeable unless you go frame by frame).

28 paź 2023 · In Johnny Mnemonic, Johnny has 80gb capacity in the hard drive stored in his head. He then uses software to upgrade to 160gb. But the data he has to carry is 320gb, which the scientists say will cause seepage, pain and death if his capacity isn't enough, but he does it anyway.
20 kwi 2023 · I just caught a new documentary, Time Bomb Y2K, which covers the Y2K bug scare using all archival footage from the era, and, amongst all else, features some great clips from Johnny Mnemonic. JM is definitely a film that’s characteristic of the time it came out.
30 wrz 2022 · This and more are all clear nods to Johnny Mnemonic and I really think it’s cool that they did that cuz as I said it’s almost like little Easter eggs. Edit: I’m sure there are prolly nods to other Cyberpunk work aside from borrowing so much from the genre as a whole, Johnny Mnemonic is just the only work from the genre that I’m familiar enough with to catch these details.
21 lut 2023 · Johnny Mnemonic is not a good movie. But it is a GOOD movie. And while I enjoyed the novelty of The Black And White Cut... it really feels like putting on a layer of polish and reverence that the original neither earned nor needed.
