After opening in 2014 tourists can witness the whole life of Saint John Paul II. The heart of the museum is the apartment in which Karol Wojtyła was born and raised. Inside, there are original pieces connected with the Wojtyła Family.
22 lut 2016 · On 18 May 1920, Karol Jozef Wojtyła, who later became Pope John Paul II, was born in the tiny bedroom. From the windows of their flat, the Wojtyła family could see the sundial on the wall of the church with the inscription ‘Time flies, eternity waits’.
The Holy Father John Paul II Family Home in Wadowice, Poland was the family home and birthplace of Karol Józef Wojtyła, who was elected Pope John Paul II in 1978, and canonised after his death. Its address is 7 Kościelna Street, Wadowice, in southern Poland.
Before going on to help change the course of the modern world as Pope John Paul II, Karol Wojtyła was born in this very building on May 18, 1920, Located right on the corner of Wadowice’s main square, it was in this townhouse that the Wojtyła family lived in a small apartment from 1919 to 1938.
During his visit to Wadowice, already as the Pope, John Paul II recalled: “my home was behind the place where I stand, on Kościelna Street. And when I looked through the window, I could see the sundial on the church wall and the inscription reading ‘Time is flying, eternity is waiting’.”
The Family Home of John Paul II is the tenement house where the late Pope John Paul II spent his early years. Situated in the small town of Wadowice, it is now a popular pilgrimage site for visitors looking to retrace the steps of the revered Polish Pope.
