10 wrz 2020 · I finally finished up the motor rebuild on the JD70; this was a great learning experience overall and real challenge to source parts for this dinosaur VH70-135008! Was able to reuse the crankshaft and piston; used a new camshaft (Tecumseh 32114).
3 gru 2011 · The Little John Deere model 70 was as Tough as Nails and actually over built for a Tractor of it's size. The weak point is the Tecumseh engine. They had Plenty of Power and Ran good until they decided to Toss their Aluminum Piston connecting rod and it is almost Impossible to locate a replacement engine either original or Off brand for a re-power.
17 lut 2010 · A lot of the 60s and 70s were retrofitted early on with Briggs engines or the V70 Tecumseh (original engine was VH60 in the 60 and VH70 in the 70). You should be able to have the crank turned down if need be on a repower engine. There is a thread on wfm now that deals with repowering a 70.
