John 14 is a comforting and enlightening discourse by Jesus during the Last Supper. Facing His imminent departure, Jesus offers His disciples profound teachings about heaven, His unique role, the coming Holy Spirit, and the relationship between love and obedience.
Context Summary. John 14:15–31 contains a prediction about the Holy Spirit. Jesus refers to this as the Spirit of Truth, and promises that the Spirit will arrive to help the disciples carry on after Jesus is ascended to heaven.

More specifically, the "hour" refers to the time immediately following Jesus' crucifixion and burial, but the "day" refers to the days, weeks, and months (even years) following Jesus' resurrection and ascension.
