JMU has 27 residence halls on campus. 22 halls are reserved for freshman (first year) students. All are double-occupancy rooms. Utilities and services (electricity, water, garbage, housekeeping) are covered by the rent. Full meal plan included in residence hall price.
Named in honor of Helen Mugler White, former vice rector of the JMU Board of Visitors, White Hall is a residence hall located in the Village Area of campus. White Hall is arranged in suites of three bedrooms that share a common lounge.
Chandler was built as the first JMU residence hall on the eastern side of I-81. Chandler Hall is composed of two wings, each with five floors. Most rooms are located on a corridor with community baths.
Named in honor of Alfred Eagle, former director of guidance, counseling and placement and a professor of education, Eagle Hall is a residence hall located in the Lake Area of campus. Originally built to be a part of the men's campus, Eagle Hall is the tallest building on campus with eight-stories.
