Clench was with BTO until its first breakup in 1979, appearing on the albums Street Action (1978) and Rock n' Roll Nights (1979). In addition to playing bass, Clench shared lead vocal duties with Fred Turner and wrote multiple songs for these two albums.
The melodic intro track, sung by bassist Jim Clench, sets the tone for the majority of the LP, which only shows an edge, and a hint of past glory, when burly C.F. Turner takes over on vocals on two cuts - "Heartaches" and the Southern rockin' "Here She Comes Again".

With the bulky guitarist out callin' his own shots, former April Wine member Jim Clench was hired to step into the gear-jammin' band. With the addition of bassist Clench, big C.F. Turner took over on guitar, while lead guitarist Blaire Thorton remained in the ranks, and Rob Bachman held down the beat on drums.
