Clench was with BTO until its first breakup in 1979, appearing on the albums Street Action (1978) and Rock n' Roll Nights (1979). In addition to playing bass, Clench shared lead vocal duties with Fred Turner and wrote multiple songs for these two albums.

15 lut 2022 · Rock n’ Roll Nights is the eighth studio album by Canadian rock band BTO, released in 1979. This record was one of three BTO albums that did not feature co-founder Randy Bachman. Rock n’ Roll Nights is also one of the two albums from this band to feature Jim Clench, formerly of April Wine.
Their third record was released in 1973 with the new band name Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Tim Bachman was replaced with Blair Thornton in 1974. Randy Bachman left in 1977 and Jim Clench joined. The band broke up in 1979, but reunited in 1983 and was active, with various lineups, until 2005.
10 maj 2009 · In 1974 Tim Bachman left BTO, and in 1977 Randy Bachman left the band to resume the solo career he had begun in 1970. Turner and Thornton became co-lead guitarist in Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and the bassist and singer Jim Clench (once of April Wine) was added.
9 gru 2016 · For those who don't know who Jim Clench was (think singer of April Wine classics Ooowatanite and Weeping Widow). These two albums notch up the rock with several solid rockers (like Rockn Roll Nights) and also have some less orthodox BTO stuff in songs like Jamaica and A Long Time for A Little While.
