Clench was with BTO until its first breakup in 1979, appearing on the albums Street Action (1978) and Rock n' Roll Nights (1979). In addition to playing bass, Clench shared lead vocal duties with Fred Turner and wrote multiple songs for these two albums.
10 maj 2009 · In 1974 Tim Bachman left BTO, and in 1977 Randy Bachman left the band to resume the solo career he had begun in 1970. Turner and Thornton became co-lead guitarist in Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and the bassist and singer Jim Clench (once of April Wine) was added.
Randy was replaced by bassist Jim Clench, formerly of April Wine. Bassist Turner moved to rhythm guitar with Thornton becoming the primary lead guitarist. Clench and Turner shared lead vocal duties.
Bachman-Turner Overdrive kept the motor idling as Randy Bachman decided to blow town after the _Freeways_ album. With the bulky guitarist out callin' his own shots, former April Wine member Jim Clench was hired to step into the gear-jammin' band.
17 gru 2016 · The remaining trio brought in bass player/songwriter Jim Clench from April Wine and Fred Turner moved to guitar. Manager Bruce Allen, once Randy’s fellow taskmaster, remained with the band, who now called themselves simply BTO.
Their third record was released in 1973 with the new band name Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Tim Bachman was replaced with Blair Thornton in 1974. Randy Bachman left in 1977 and Jim Clench joined.
The remaining members replaced him with Jim Clench of April Wine and continued on under the name BTO. After releasing two albums that found even less success, they disbanded in 1979.
