25 kwi 2019 · I re-gapped my Scout's spark plugs from .035 to .045 for the much higher HEI system spark voltage. This all new unit has a distributor drive gear that meshes correctly with the AMC/Jeep 258 camshaft and oil pump shaft. The GM 250 engine camshaft is cut at the opposite angle, so its distributor drive gear won't work in the AMC/Jeep 258 engine.
28 kwi 2009 · My engine rebuilder told me my new HEI distributor was too big around and was causing clearance problems. Is there a HEI distributor that is not much bigger around than the stock points unit? Thanks Dan
1 lis 2005 · A remanufactured unit from your local auto parts chain will cost you well over $100. Start the search for an HEI from vehicles of the years 78-82 with the GM 250 or 292 I6 engine.
23 cze 2018 · Since the instructions that came with my HEI (and I expect the same instructions come with your HEI) tell the installer to connect the green tach wire to the green HEI wire, it was an oversight on the mechanics part.

This conversion is for Jeepsters that have the 225 V-6 Buick engine. First you need to purchase a complete 231 V-6 odd-fire HEI distributor from a 1976 Buick, Pontiac or other GM car. Do not forget the spark plug wires and ring!
