I followed a tutorial video on how to download mods for fallout 4, which it also shows you how to download F4SE at the end. However, it was very vague, but all of the commentors seemed to have figured it out so I don't know where I went wrong.

go to the official website - f4se.silverlock.org and pay attention to the version you need, if your game is up to date you can just download the latest one, if your game is a little old (iykwim) you might have to check which version you need to have.
