No. I have an Apple TV 2, and the answer is definitely no. The biggest reason you're going to want to jailbreak is for something like xbmc, plex, or atv flash black. There are many devices that do that cheaper. Second, you're stuck at 720p. I think it's probably cheaper to buy an Apple TV and run vanilla along side a roku or something.
tl;dr: Need to stream living-room friendly versions of Netflix, Youtube, Plex (and other services/apps that I'm maybe not aware of) to a recommended device (Fire, Roku, Android, Chromecast?, jailbroken?).
