There are two main overnight camping areas with a number of campsites, including equestrian camps. Camping is within designated campsites only i.e., dispersed camping is not allowed. Camping fees are collected at self-registration stations located in the campgrounds.
Jackson offers a variety of low cost and free recreational opportunities. Recreational activities include camping, hiking, biking, horseback riding, swimming, mushroom collecting, hunting and picnicking. Seasonal camping is offered mid-May through September, weather dependent. There are a total of 48 miles of sanctioned trails.
Jackson is the largest of CAL FIRE's eight demonstration state forests. Located in the middle of California's coastal redwood region, on the western edge of Mendocino County at Fort Bragg. It boasts two large camping areas with multiple campsites that offer dry camping with vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings.
12 wrz 2015 · If you're looking for solitude, this is a great place to visit! $15 a night for some nice spacious campsites. Iron ranger was busted (stolen), so a ranger came around twice a day to collect fees. Cart in your own water, no electricity, pit toilets and fire rings at most campsites. Some roads are rough and steep, so a 4x4 helps but isn't necessary.
Of the 14 demonstration forests, Jackson is the largest, with a mission to provide research on forest management best practices, along with recreation – from camping, hiking, biking and horseback riding to swimming, mushroom collecting, hunting and picnicking.
Campgrounds associated with Camp One include Redtail (10 sites; 6-10 campsites are open to equestrian campers only), Wagon (5 sites), Roundhouse (3 sites), Tin Can (2 sites) and numerous one campsite campgrounds.
Jackson Demonstration Forest Camp 20 Campgrounds east of Fort Bragg California offers primitive tent and small RV camping in a CalFire managed forest. Camping in designated campgrounds including: Dunlap Camp, Horse Camp, Big River Camp, and Forks.
