At the Title Screen, when it lets you choose a 1- or 2-player game, press these buttons in this order: DOWN, DOWN, UP, UP, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, and then the top L and R buttons at the same time. The screen will turn blue. Select a two-player game, and then go to the Character Selection Screen.
