The two (four including their network exclusive shows, five if a PPV that week, and soon to be six) weekly televised shows don't actually make the WWE much money, and sponsorship isn't actually that strong of a finical aid, all those, including the network, is to promote the shows and merchandise.
One that has often gotten my friends who are not interested in wrestling a moment to ponder, and in a few cases actually start watching. Wrestling isn't fake. It's scripted. It's fight craft, no different than what you'd see in a theatrical setting, except performed at a very, very high level.
I don't know if you will be able to get into it, current WWE is really bad, so you might be better off checking out classic WWE stuff or WWE's modern day alternatives, such as AEW or it's ilk. Even taking that into account, wrestling can still be tricky to get into.
