The only way for you to play a game that is under the family shared list from your friend while he/she is on and playing is if they set their steam to launch in off-line mode. The opposite is also true if you are sharing your library under family share.

It is not sharing your account so, no, they cannot access anything that you have not set to public or friends only (assuming their account is on your Steam friends list). Family Sharing allows family members to share games while keeping their accounts separate.
The update is good for playing online and for adding people easily, but it's bad because everyone must be part of 1 family. In my situation, I share with my cousin who shares with his girlfriend.
Assuming BG3 is available on Family Sharing (some games aren't), you can add her for family sharing, sign into the spare pc as her, download it, then login to her laptop and use remote play. You can only use remote play using the same login on the host and remote terminal.
