Nexus is probably the safest place to get mods for your games. Forcing premium and "custom downloader" in your face and then also requiring registration for one simple mode looks very fishy to me. 11 votes, 10 comments. I'm new to PC games, have skyrim on steam, and want to begin modding it.

Been using it for years: no issues. Nexus uses Virus Total for its virus scan. You can view the files within a download if you're suspicious. (Just click "Preview File Contents" on the mod file.) You can just download manually then scan with Windows or Malwarebytes. Then install the archive into your mod manager.

It's not very likely at all. The files are moderated and contain pretty much only model, script and texture files that the game reads. Pretty much the only way for you to get infected is if you go clicking some unknown .exe files from recently uploaded files.

30 wrz 2017 · If the mods are downloaded through nexus mod manager, they are 100% safe. Nexus isn't going to allow some virus to load through their manager. The ones that are manual downloaded are like 90% safe.
20 wrz 2019 · This software isn't the creation of some major software developer and it's free. That makes me question the safety of using the Vortex mod manager and the mods. However, malwarebytes nor antiviruses don't flag it so I guess it's safe.
