Nexus is probably the safest place to get mods for your games. Forcing premium and "custom downloader" in your face and then also requiring registration for one simple mode looks very fishy to me. 11 votes, 10 comments. I'm new to PC games, have skyrim on steam, and want to begin modding it.
Nexus uses Virus Total for its virus scan. You can view the files within a download if you're suspicious. (Just click "Preview File Contents" on the mod file.) You can just download manually then scan with Windows or Malwarebytes. Then install the archive into your mod manager.
Only download mods from Nexus or Steam and make sure the mod has been around at least a couple months and has plenty of endorsements/positive reviews before downloading it. Also, if you have any device that connects to the internet, you NEED to have an anti-virus/security program installed and kept updated.

6 cze 2022 · When you go to download a nexus mod, click on the files tab and click on the little circle next to the file name. Most commonly those are green, to tell you the file is safe, but sometimes they are blue or white, if the file is internally verified due to size, or is just too big to scan.
15 cze 2020 · All uploaded mods are scanned before they are made available for download. Some anti-virus programs will flag some mods, but it is a false positive. All the mods available here are virus free.
Nexus is safe, been using it for years with no issues and they scan all files for viruses. If you need help clearing it, using Malwarebytes trial is a good place to start.
