In this case there has been millions of downloads and I’ve yet to hear a virus coming from Nexus (and not from a person just not having an idea how to be safe). Nexus is THE largest modding site on the net.
Nexus uses Virus Total for its virus scan. You can view the files within a download if you're suspicious. (Just click "Preview File Contents" on the mod file.) You can just download manually then scan with Windows or Malwarebytes. Then install the archive into your mod manager.
Scanner caught the data from upload and moderators banned the author outright - which points out that malicious data was uploaded intentionally and wasn't due to secondary infection. Neither of these cases ended up being serious.
14 mar 2024 · All content uploaded to Nexus Mods goes through multiple security checks and a virus scan process before being made available to download. Files that file any of these checks are placed into a quarantined state and require manual review by a moderator or Community Manager before being unlocked.
6 cze 2022 · Just run a complete virus scan on your PC to address the issue (and do not open any email unless you are absolutely sure it is from a legitimate source and is safe - email scams are quite common).
29 wrz 2024 · NexusMods has a generally reliable malware scan, but no system is 100% foolproof. It's good that you've also checked with VirusTotal, KTS, and NPE. While there's always a theoretical risk, the fact that all these scans came back clean significantly reduces the likelihood of malware.
11 lis 2021 · The ads are obviously not normal, because they are redirecting me off the main Nexus website. McAfee claims my information is not safe and to run a scan (FYI for anyone reading PLEASE do not run this).
