   Yes. In fact the Nexus has been comprimised in the past. Will it happen? I highly doubt it, but still scan everything you download yourself to be even more sure; though even scanners can't save us 100% of the time.

   If it had malware, I'm pretty sure it would be flagged and immediately removed by Nexus. Only download mods from Nexus or Steam and make sure the mod has been around at least a couple months and has plenty of endorsements/positive reviews before downloading it.
