We resolved to go to Tahoe and see what we could see. We drove around Tahoe looking for a public beach hoping for a free one, but couldn't find one. We finally decided on Nevada beach where we were charged $8 upon entry. We were able to park close to the beach and walk down. It was beautiful and clean.
Beautiful Beach! Nevada Beach is a beautiful stretch of beach on a stunningly gorgeous lake. It is a US Forest property and is well maintained. If you are looking for an desolate beach experience, this is not for you .It does get crowded on the weekends so get there early.
