For tubular track, subsitute a fine Teflon pad for the soft T-shirt, if the track is extremely dirty. Then use another Teflon pad with the 2-26. Treat the inside ends of the track the same way. Clean first with Contact cleaner on a pipe cleaner, then 2-26 on a different pipe cleaner.

15 lut 2023 · Lionel literature recommended benzene (flammable) for cleaning tracks up through 1948 when they started recommending carbon tetrachloride (non-flammable). From 1950 on Lionel recommended using their own maintenance kit cleaner or other household cleaners.
It was flammable, and because of the sparks generated by the motor and the center rail pick-up could not be used with this unit. Lionel replaced this fluid with the No. 3927-75 which is non-flammable.
7 paź 2014 · I would be careful using alcohol or any other flammable cleaner. A spark from the roller pickup could ignite the liquid before it evaporates. Small amounts of alcohol burn almost invisibly, so a fire may not be evident at first. Use Lionel or Life Like track cleaning fluid in the car.
17 wrz 2023 · According to the highly informative Tandem-Associates Post War Lionel Identification Guide, the track cleaning fluid in the original orange can is highly flammable and should not be used with the 3927 Track Cleaning Car due to the risk of fire.
