What the hell was Aperture Science actually testing? Okay so we know they know how to make a quantum space hole. I feel as if they are just testing human knowledge and problem solving and not the gun, the levitation blue ray, or the light bridges.

Aperture Science is well known in-universe as the second-best science company, a title Cave Johnson hated. Black Mesa was regarded as the best. But second-best is still great, and they got a lot of money. He became a billionaire in the 40s, when he founded Aperture Fixtures.
