Starting every September, the iQTS programme is a 37-week school-based course during which trainee teachers work under the guidance of a mentor (appointed by the school in which they work) who observes them teach and meets weekly to review progress and set targets.
International Qualified Teacher Status (iQTS) is a new international teaching qualification, backed by the UK Government, which was piloted from September 2022 with six providers. Additional providers will be supporting the wider roll-out of iQTS from 23/24.
This iQTS course is for trainee teachers of primary education ages 3-11 years. It is a UK government-backed international teaching qualification, recognised by the DfE, as equivalent to English Qualified Teacher Status (QTS.)
