I do have TV Out turned on in my phone's settings & I've tried on both NTSC & PAL settings. I'm also not using a dock. My phone is connexted to the cable straight to the tv.

First of all, when you plug the iPhone into the dock/cable to send the picture out to the tv, does the screen on the iPhone switch off? I have only tried on the 5g ipod and the screen stayed on. Also, I am reading a lot of issues with TV out if you don't use Apple supplied cables, Never had a issue. cheap $5 from dicksmiths.
