  2. Class A Public & Private IP Address Range. Class A addresses are for networks with large number of total hosts. Class A allows for 126 networks by using the first octet for the network ID. The first bit in this octet, is always zero. The remaining seven bits in this octet complete the network ID.

  3. 27 cze 2024 · Class A Network. This IP address class is used when there are a large number of hosts. In a Class A type of network, the first 8 bits (also called the first octet) identify the network, and the remaining have 24 bits for the host into that network. An example of a Class A address is 102.168.212.226.

  4. Example of Class A Private Usable IP Address Range. 10.0.0.1 Up to last IP Address 10.255.255.254. Calculate Usable IP Addresses. Since Class A rules the first byte, we left with 3 bytes for the Hosts. Hosts = 2 24 = 16,777,216 – 2 = 16,777,214 Hosts or Usable IP address Per Network!

  5. Figure 1 shows how the network and host IDs are different for each class of IP addresses. Class A has 3 octets for the host portion of the address. Deployed as is, a Class A address represents a very inefficient use of address space, since available Layer 2 technologies cannot easily support this many hosts on a single subnet.
