19 kwi 2024 · Amps pulled must be less than the breaker size (amps). To fix, do a load calculation, then if enough, change the wires to 60 amp size, then you can change the the breaker in main panel to 60 amps. Or change the welder to an inverter type that only uses 20 amps at 240v.
Does your welder trip the breaker as soon as you plug it in or immediately after you begin welding? If so, it’s likely that you have a defective welder. When welders fail, they will often cause the breaker to immediately trip.

24 maj 2020 · You can use a Lincoln Electric 240 volt. And I would also advise you to use a circuit breaker. For an 240 volt welder it will require a 50 amp circuit breaker and 6 gauge wiring. So, you will need a 50 A breaker for 3 phase. I tried that a few times an 240 volt with circuit breaker and it was okay.
A circuit with 20 amps circuit breaker will need a 12-gauge wire at a minimum. Thus, for 220v welders you will need to go with at least 30 – 40 amp breaker, meanwhile, for smaller 115v a 20 – 30 amp breaker should be enough. For 3 phase, you will need up to 50 amp breaker depending on its voltage.
