Interviews are useful tools to glean the related data from the participants, and different types of interviews are commonly used to delve into the participants’ perceptions. In this study, we address three types of interviews (structured, semi-structured, and unstructured), and compare them in detail.
This chapter includes conceptual and historical background, description of some of the most common features and approaches to interviews, strengths and weaknesses of mainstream interview formats, and discussion of a number of critical topics (DSM-5, culture, technology) and their impact on the interview process.
