The Institute of Politics provides 300 fully-funded internships each year across the country and around the world. These opportunities offer our students the chance to do meaningful, often life-changing work in a wide variety of fields related to politics and public service.
The IOP provides hundreds of paid politics and public service internships during the summer and the academic year. Academic-year internship applications are going live soon and will be due Sunday, October 20th.
We provide roughly 300 fully-funded internships each year across the country and around the world. Students placed in academic-year internships receive a $2,600 stipend. More internships are being posted regularly! Apply for academic-year internships by October 21.
At the Institute, students can test their assumptions – and ours – about the role of politics, public service, journalism, and other institutions of our democracy, and explore how best to shape them.
Application Process. The IOP conducts a matching process to place students in academic-year internships. Students will submit a single general application, including a resume and cover letter (or other writing sample). On the application, students will express interest in specific roles and themes.
The Institute of Politics (IOP) is an extracurricular nonpartisan political institute associated with the College of the University of Chicago and the Harris School of Public Policy designed to inspire students to pursue careers in politics and public service.
