The Institute of Politics (IOP) is an extracurricular nonpartisan political institute associated with the College of the University of Chicago and the Harris School of Public Policy designed to inspire students to pursue careers in politics and public service.
Each quarter, the Pritzker Fellows Program welcomes a cohort of domestic and international practitioners – elected officials, journalists, activists, policymakers, diplomats – to campus for deep dives into the most pressing issues of the day.
Each year, the IOP hosts dozens of public Speaker Series events, providing students and the general public direct contact with elected officials, activists, authors, journalists, and other key practitioners in politics and public service.
11 paź 2022 · Former U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp, whose decades of service have been marked by thoughtful efforts to bridge political divides, has been named director of the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, effective Jan. 3, 2023. She succeeds David Axelrod, who announced in February his plans to step down from the role.
