I have downloaded about 20 music players and tried each one out, and in this post I'll be sharing my opinions on each. Note that I'm not audiophilic. My main need in a music player is one that is well-made with an easy to use user interface that lets me browse through my music library with ease.

For playback of local or remote music via dlna or casting, I recommend BubbleUPnP, which is fully functional for most uses without purchasing the license; it can be any mixture of the three DLNA profiles (player, controller, storage), and as a bonus can expose music stored in your cloud storage to other DLNA devices on the local network.
