Each region offers competitions and evaluations in band, choir and orchestra. For the purpose of advancement to the Area and State Marching Band Contest the regions are grouped into 9 areas for 6A competition, 9 areas for and 5A competition, and 5 areas for A, 2A, 3A and 4A competition.
