Indy introduced the 440-1 head and manifold combination that soon became the most popular power for the 440 Wedge engine. With the newly designed heart shaped combustion chamber, it’s still the best selling package at Indy, transforming power deprived combinations into serious street/strip machines.
The 440-3X is a larger volume single plane 4500 flange wedge intake manifold for R/B height blocks. It was designed exclusively to fill the void for the larger cubic inch engines. As in all Indy products, the 440-3X has versatility.
For example, large port intake manifolds in several configurations as well as cast, aluminum valve covers. The Indy heads have raised intake ports, and 0.250" longer valves which allows them to flow more air, especially when ported properly.

This is still the best selling package at Indy Cylinder Head transforming stock blocks and cranks into serious street/strip machines. The best use of the 440-1 is a 451" to 500" bracket engine. it makes the perfect kind of engine a bracket racer wants. 650 HP to 850 HP with one carb, it makes great torque and has low shift points.
