3 maj 2012 · We are new to peafowl and currently have three chicks. The first is older than the others, about 4 months, and the younger are 2.5 months. Anyone can help us determine whether we have boys or girls? We have our guesses, but I'll refrain until I hear what others say.

31 lip 2016 · This species can be crossed with the Pavo cristatus or Indian peafowl, but the resulting chicks are considered to be of Indian peafowl descent with green blood mixed in. These chicks are fertile hybrids called Spaldings (named after the lady who did it first).

Adult females will be drab in comparison and will not sport the display train. Young peafowl can typically be sexed at around 9-12 weeks by their plumage, except a few.
Indian peafowl nest on the ground; it is a shallow scrape lined with leaves, sticks, and other debris. The clutch consists of 4-8 fawn-to-buff white eggs which are incubated only by the female for about 28 days. The chicks are precocial (fully developed) and follow the mother around soon after hatching.
