However, its proximity to the picturesque Waterfront and open-air market makes it convenient to visit while enjoying an evening stroll along the waterfront.
Formerly Kling Street, renamed in 1928 to acknowledge the Indian merchants who had set up businesses here; closed to traffic and converted into a pedestrian mall in 1992. This is one of the busiest streets in Kuching's Old Bazaar, popular for clothes shopping.
