18 gru 2021 · The adult inclusion conjunctivitis is caused by serotypes D-K. In addition, C. trachomatis is the most common cause of chronic follicular conjunctivitis and is responsible for 20% of acute conjunctivitis cases . Patients with inclusion conjunctivitis have a wide range of severity of symptoms.
• Twenty-five consecutive cases of adult inclusion conjunctivitis were studied. Diagnosis was based on the finding of typical Halberstaedter-Prowazek inclusion bodies on conjunctival scrapings. Corneal involvement was common (20/25 patients); most frequent was superficial epithelial keratitis (15/25).

Purpose : Inclusion conjunctivitis is a sexually transmitted disease. It is typically caused by Chlamydia trachomatis but may rarely be associated with Chlamydia pneumoniae or Chlamydia psittaci. Diagnosis is clinical and quite challenging with frequent delayed and misdiagnoses.
The commonest causes of conjunctivitis are viral and bacterial conjunctivitis, and among non-infectious etiologies, the most common are allergic and toxin-induced conjunctivitis. The presence of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites can all cause infectious conjunctivitis.
