16 sie 2013 · Grand Ages: Rome. It is, as far as I'm concerned, better in every aspect. Also, fun fact: The sequel to Imperium Romanum, Imperium Romanum II (didn't see that one coming, did you) was, while still in development, renamed to Grand Ages: Rome.
Grand Ages Rome is a better city builder than rts. The problem with the RTS is you have choices of many units although the elite roman guard makes them all redundant. The city building part is challenging without being too difficult.
Imperium Romanum if you want immersion and grand ages if you want grand scale/scope. Grand ages has a loooot more variety in things to do and is quicker paced. However, Imp' Romanum is more immersive (I think).
10 sie 2016 · I have both and prefer Imperium Romanum, it's slightly less tedious than Grand Ages IMHO.

Grand Ages: Rome is also quite a good city-builder. Newer than Caesar 4 but also dated now. Imperium Romanum wasn't terrible but it's too Anno-esque for me to really enjoy as a city builder. Looks like Grand Ages: Rome is the sequel.
