The Illinois State Police (ISP) is the state police agency of the U.S. state of Illinois. The Illinois State Police is responsible for traffic safety on more than 300,000 miles of total roadway, including 2,185 miles of interstate highways and 15,969 miles of state highways.
15 wrz 2024 · 1/2023 - Illinois State Police has reorganized their former twenty one Districts into eleven Troops (1-10, 15). District 15 (tollways) is now Troop 15, but the on-air radio identifiers for the other former District units have all changed.
By 1972, the numbers within the ranks of ISP grew to 1,709 sworn officers and 602 support staff covering every county in Illinois. The Department was organized into five divisions in 1977: Division of Illinois State Police, Division of Investigation, Division of Support Services, Division of Administration, and Division of Internal Investigation.

The Board of the Illinois State Police certifies and disciplines officers for appointment and promotion. The rank structure includes trooper, sergeant, master sergeant, lieutenant, captain, major, and Special Agent.
