Cities and counties are permitted to elect their own building codes, zoning regulations, and permit requirements. Illinois statute requires that all local jurisdictions must follow the most current versions of the Illinois Energy Conservation Code, the Illinois Accessibility Code, and the Illinois Plumbing Code.
