The five primary classes of immunoglobulins are IgG, IgM, IgA, IgD, and IgE. These are distinguished by the type of heavy chain found in the molecule. IgG molecules have heavy chains known as gamma-chains; IgMs have mu-chains; IgAs have alpha-chains; IgEs have epsilon-chains; and IgDs have delta-chains.

The approximate molecular weight of an IgG antibody is 150 kDa. IgG antibodies have 4 isotypes – IgG1, IgG2, IgG3 and IgG4. GenScript Production Scientists have the experience in producing a variety of IgG isotypes including human IgG1, human IgG4 and mouse IgG1.
Each immunoglobulin has two small chains (molecular weight of 22 kD) termed light chains (LCs) (Figure 1) and two more chains (55 kD) called heavy chains (HCs). Each IgG molecule is composed of two identical LCs and two identical HCs which form a Y-shaped structure (Figure 1).
20 gru 2018 · Depending on the size of the hinge region, the position of disulfide bonds, and the molecular weight of the antibody, IgG can be further divided into 4 subclasses: IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4.
23 sty 2024 · IgG3 comprises around 5 to 10% of total IgG and has a molecular weight of 170 kDa. They play a major role in the immune responses against protein or polypeptide antigens which are T dependent antigens. The IgG3 are particularly good opsonins and mediators of ADCC because FcγRs bind sIgG3 antibodies with high affinity.
21 sty 2014 · Schematic structures of IgG and IgM. Monomeric IgG and pentameric IgM are shown with their variable and constant heavy chain regions (VH and CH, respectively) and light chain regions (VL and CL, respectively). The diagram also shows the Fab and Fc domains, the hinge region, the interchain disulfide bonds (-), and the glycosylation sites ( ).
