25 wrz 2024 · I'm using Kontakt 8 Player at the moment. Very good improvements to GUI and functionality (persistent browser, scalable interface). New toys (err, Tools) are quite inspiring and a lot of fun.
26 kwi 2023 · I’ve picked up a Tikka T3X in .223 with a 1:8 twist barrel. Are there any bullets people would recommend to suit this? I’m trying to gain some knowledge here as to what type/weight bullet suits this barrel rather than say the other flavour 1:12 twist.
4 sty 2015 · I have two McGowen barrels in 8 twist on 280AI's, each shoot the 140 and 160 grain bullets 1/2 MOA and better. I do find that my loads are about 150fps slower than others runnng the exact same load. I'm not chasing speed, just consistent accuracy, which I have in spades.
16 kwi 2018 · Looking to put a new barrel on my 6.5. Can anyone fill me in on the differences and advantages of a 1-7.5 twist or a 1-8 twist over the other.
15 wrz 2013 · Tikka prints the twist rate on the barrel after the calibre. So if yours say '.223 Rem 12' then it's 1:12. Or '.223 Rem 8' means 1:8. Triffid
28 sty 2017 · If I were to shoot any bullets under 55 gr I'd go with the slower twist 1:12 barrel and take advantage of the speed. For 69 gr and up, go with the 1:8 twist. I have a .223 Bolt Action I built around 77 gr and heavier bullets.
8 wrz 2020 · The problem I have with the Hornaday 55 gr V-max, not soft point, is that they sit too far down the neck when touching lands in an 8 twist Criterion barrel, leaving too little room for a stout charge. If you find that issue with your barrel, consider using a ball powder such as CFE223, or H335.
