The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love. The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]

What does 1 John 4:13 mean? John gives further evidence of someone who has true fellowship with Christ in this verse. The Holy Spirit is the sign of our true faith. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:16, "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?"
